Ron and Debbie Johanson and daughters

Ron is our resident club photographer

Ron Johanson and his wife Deb, and daughters, Heather and Hilary, and Barney
the Wonder Dog, hail from NE MA. Ron's first HMV was an M38A1 and was
purchased in 1983 and ran fine until 1987 when he started working on it. It
is still not working. In 1987 Deb married Ron, and allowed him to buy 2 more
non running M38A1s. In '91 Ron traded a working refrigerator for a non
running M715 and stuffed it in the garage. In 2000, Ron bought another non
running M38A1 that had been abandoned in a backyard swamp (notice a common
thread here?).
In 1999 (Y2K), he bought an M116A1 generator trailer with 2 generators,
of which only one had a good engine and one had a good generator, but
unfortunately, they were not the same one. This was stuffed in the back yard
to join the M715 some day.
In 2000, his luck held, and he had pick of the litter of 24 M35A2s from
a dealer who struck DRMO gold. He chose the cherriest truck and watched as
the remaining 23 were driven off and his was hauled to Hanks house behind a
wrecker. With the help of Hank and Larry Damour, it was eventually brought
to life. In 2001 he bought an M105 trailer to haul behind his Deuce, but it
hasn't been there yet.
In 2002 he added an M1010 CUCV Ambulance, two M101CDN 3/4 ton trailers
and an M116A2 with a couple of generators on it to tow behind the M1010 some
day.  He also bought an A2 axle and surge brake hitch to convert one of the
M101CDNs to an M101A2CDN, but that will probably never happen in this
century.
Ron is allowed to stay in the MVMVC so that other members have someone
to point to when their wives complain about their rust pile. His wife, Deb,
has been nominated for Sainthood, and his daughter Heather hopes to someday
get one of the M38A1's running. Hilary, mortified beyond words, makes her
father drop her off 3 blocks from school because he insists on using the
M1010 as a daily driver, if he remembers to charge the batteries. He is
known as GI Joe at work because of his 'collection'.
So, a recap for those who have fallen asleep. 7 motorized vehicles, of
which two sorta run. 5 trailers, 4 generators. Oh, did we mention the 3 non
running H-1 aircraft pre-heater trailers?
The family has belonged to the MVMVC for 4 years. He also belongs to the
GMMVC and the MVPA.
